Thank you for your interest in volunteering for this year's FurFest! MFF is run every year entirely by a 100% volunteer staff, and keeping a great staff of volunteer folks is what makes it a success.

What does being a volunteer mean for us? It means that you're willing to chip in your talent and hard work in a variety of areas.

  1. What areas do you need volunteers for?
  2. So, what's in it for me?
  3. I'd like to volunteer, how do I do it?

What areas do you need volunteers for?

  1. Door Duty - We like to make sure that convention-only areas of the hotel stay reserved for the enjoyment of the folks we've registered. You may be asked to check convention badges, and encourage folks to wear them while they're on the premises
  2. Set Up & Tear Down - We need help getting all our stuff from the storage unit every year and getting it to the hotel space where we can set it up. Got a strong back and handy with a wrench? We can use your help!
  3. Info Desk - Like helping folks with the schedule, and giving directions as to where events are being held? Enjoy answering questions about the available dining, or pointing someone to Lost & Found?
  4. Elevator Wrangling - During rush hours like the early evening, we need help making sure nobody gets trampled in the rush to get upstairs and changed out of suit or into dinner attire. Got a cool head and can keeping the chaos under control? We could use your help!
  5. Filling in for staff, or just pitching in as needed. So, is hospitality your forté? Or is being a level head and a strong back more your style? Either way, we can always use a few extra hands (or paws, or fins, or whatever you have) in making sure folks are enjoying our convention.

What's in it for me?

What's in it for you? Well, our eternal gratitude, of course, as well as the knowledge that we can't have this convention without countless hours of help from folks like you. But there are other benefits.

  • For one lousy hour of service, you get a free T-Shirt with art designed by DC Simpson, one of our guests of honor for the year.
  • For ten hours of service, you earn a free rollover membership to next year's convention. We even fill out the paperwork for you for next year so you don't have to re-register - it's that easy!
  • For twelve hours of service (at least 3 a day) you can stay in one of the hotel rooms we have available just for gofers like you - this space fills up pretty fast, but it's a great way to defray your convention expenses.

And all you need to do to qualify to be a volunteer is to be a registered attendee of the convention, and to wear your volunteer T-shirt while you're working, that's all we ask!
